Overview
A favorite memory from my childhood took place in the summer of 2006, while visiting my grandparents in Orchard Park, New York. Their backyard was filled with bird feeders and bird houses, and while I had always watched for birds, it wasn't until that summer that I was challenged by my grandmother to identify as many as possible using a guide book and a pair of binoculars. I sat in the porch and identified birds for hours, taking note of unique features and behaviors.

I was reminded of that experience during the Covid 19 lockdown, and began a project to create a unique bird watching experience. I challenged myself to design two separate, but related products. I designed an observation birdhouse that could also serve as a unique pandemic offering from a known brand (I chose Arlo), and a digital app that could expand on the experience that I had enjoyed back in 2006.
